Trip Report:

I know, I know...useless without pics. It was too cold to take the camera out.

Sugarloaf picked up 3" or so yesterday A.M and it allowed them to drop some ropes. The good news is that things are shaping up nicely for the Summit in one month.

Got to the chair for 8:30 and skied until 3. No lines, no waiting. They opened Timberline for the first time and it was skiing great. They blew snow all morning on that, Upper Tote, and Narrow Gauge Ext. Only thing skiable from the summit was Timby.

By and large, if it was open, it was skiing pretty well. The groomers stayed in shape well until 2. Gondi was fantastic all morning and Spillway held its own as well. King Pine was open but only serviced Haulback and Ramdown. Haulback is not 100%...in fact, it's significantly less. Did my obligatory runs over there and headed back to Skyline.

For some reason, Sluice Chute/ Headwall were not open today. (they were yesterday) Looked like there was plenty of coverage.

Cold usually doesn't bother me but today was an exception. There was no wind to speak but it was raw. Usually I will start the morning with a mask and then by 10 I can take it off. Not so much. I am sure that is what kept the masses away. From what I understand, yesterday was a total goat rodeo.

The woods are still far too boney to go investigating. If this weeks storm tracked a little further north I think it would be a different situation.

Overall, a great day and hopefully Sunday temps will allow me to get some photos and up the Stoke for February!

Ha, never heard the expression before, old fart here.

Goat Rodeo
A chaotic situation, often one that involves several people, each with a different agenda/vision/perception of what's going on; a situation that is very difficult, despite energy and efforts, to instill any sense or order into
"Management's nuts. By the time each of them has his say and policy gets to us, it's a goat rodeo."

"We had Ondine's fifth birthday party yesterday. What a goat rodeo!"
