Resort or Ski Area: Sugarloaf

Conditions: Powder / Packed Powder

Trip Report: This is a report on Green and Blue runs at Sugarloaf. Maybe someone can chime in on the steeper stuff.

Took the family to the 'Loaf for the weekend, taking advantage of the Winterkids program and the Maine Resident $25 Sunday Special.

Sugarloaf got a nice snowfall Friday night. Saturday was powder conditions and Sunday was great PP on the groomers. The only issue all weekend was the WIND. Both days were pretty windy, and kept Timberline and Spillway East closed all weekend. Enough of the mountain lifts were open however so it didn't pile up at the lifts too bad - outside of
Sat morning.

So we bundled up and tackeled the blues and greens - mostly off superquad. Everything had very good coverage. Top of tote road off the quad was a bit scrapy due to all the wind, but the rest of the trail held up very well all weekend. For those at the intermediate / beginner level, the trails that were a bit light on cover were Upper / Lower Glancer off the Bucksaw chair. Some spots on the West Mountain trail. Lower Windrow on the other side of the bridge was thin. Whiffleetree area had just the whiffletree trial open for the most part. Need some more natural to get some more terrain ready over there. But it was very good cover everywhere with plenty of terrain for our ability level. It was nice to have good cover most of the day!

The only slight disappointment was the 2 days of snowmaking on Scoot - our favorite trail. I was hoping they would have it groomed Sunday but not to be. But I can't complain. They have to make snow when they have the temps. Candyside was getting a good shot of snow this weekend too. Both trails should be great the next couple of days if you can stand the cold.

If anyone wants to post something on the steeps - feel free!
