Sugarloaf

Conditions: The mountain was in recovery mode after thaw/freeze cycle Wednesday into Thursday. Natural trails and trees were off limits, but groomed trails were in good shape and benefited from 2-3 inches of light snow overnight. It was mostly cloudy for the first hour but the sun dominated the rest of the day. Temps in the mid teens with NO WIND. All lifts running!

Trail Report: Trials that received an early groom had 2-3 inches of fluff on top making for super fun runs. Early runs on Kings Landing, Hayburner, Comp Hill and Sluice were in this category. Summit trails like Gondi Ext, Narrow Gauge, White Nitro Ext, and Sluice Head wall received a later groom and they were great carvers most of the day. The steeps showed signs of wear in the afternoon. There was plenty of snow to find a place to turn, but the boiler plate was showing through in spots. The place to be in the afternoon was skiing runs in the Sun of the Timberline Quad.

Overall a really good day. Very good conditions on the groomers, good weather and minimal lift lines. Trees and natural trails need a blower to get opened up.

I thought it was a bit slippery in a few spots today. Seemed like a lot of people out there not wearing helmets and going way too fast. Saw a lot of ski patrol activity today. Spoke to a few friends on patrol and heard they were busy. Wish it would snow.
