hi all. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good bootfitters around the sugarloaf area? I've always had problems with my feet cramping in my boots and thus having to wear them unbuckled, and i'm hoping to get it fixed this year with the help of a good bootfitter. Any advice is greatly appreciated. and if not a good bootfitter specifically, whats the best ski shop around the area? i'm a freshman in college and i've never been there before, but i'm guessing that because its such a big resort there will be a few good shops around. any advice is greatly appreciated.

You'll probably be best served by the Sugarloaf Ski Shop at the base. I can't vouch for them personally since I go somewhere else to do my boot work. However, in the times I've been there to look over gear and try on some boots (I was in the market for some Garmonts a few seasons ago), they seemed to have a good handle on things. Besides, nothing beats having a bootfitter at the base. They can work on your boots, you go off and take a few runs then you go back in to fix hot spots.

IME...Lionel Herring, owner of Happy Tunes(CVA ski/boot guy) shop on main road ~3 miles from access road...on the righthand clearing, underneath Tufulios(small but good restaurant) = knowledge = does good work...but calling is advised as at times he can get real busy. Has boot/ski-guy hours = not 9-5...;-)

Agree about shop at the base. Wife and I were there 3 years ago and had to buy boots (or we could not ski). Good initial assessment for the boot. Then they kept adjusting fit to my wife's foot over three days. Awesome service!

Both the Sugarloaf Ski Shop and Lionel at Happy Tunes do a great job. If you want some quick fixes, I would go the Ski Shop. For a detail fit, I would go to Lionel at Happy Tunes. Lionel does not do quick fixes. He will want an hour to check alignment etc. Call ahead for Lionel. You can not just walk in and get him.
