Nice pix! Is the Mexican restaurant open? Im heading up there tomorrow and like eating there.
If you’re thinking of Mas Amigos in the village by The Bag. It closed at the end of last season and Brickyard Hollow moved in. Brickyard Hollow is a great restaurant in the Portland area and have expanded seemingly everywhere in the state. Including Eustis and now Sugarloaf. BH in Eustis closed unexpectedly last month. And sounds like they are struggling on mountain now too.

Sorry to hear all the bad luck @urungus . At least you got a clear day to take in the views.

I should’ve mentioned you’ve got to be in the bucksaw area to ski back to the car.

I’m happy to report that Black Diamond Burrito is still open. It’s upstairs next to the board shop overlooking the double lift

I wonder why so many uphillers choose to climb the west side of the mountain when they could climb burnt mountain instead.

Yeah, guess it is a multi year install. Not sure exactly why, hopefully current Timberline stays standing and operable for next season.
If this map is correct they presumably need to spend a summer cutting trails and installing snowmaking before the lift goes in.

I assume that life base location will be reachable by Bucksaw and Bullwinkle's. They actually own all the land back there down to the river and there were plans in the past to expand into Crocker Basin. Maybe some day off in the future they revisit it.

This was my home hill when I was a student at UMaine Farmington in the 1990s. I have only been back 3x since, the most recent being Reggae Weekend 2009. Hippie nonsense aside (always the bane of my existence up there -- I had Ramones and New York Dolls posters in my dorm, okay?), these pics are powerfully nostalgic for me. Seems like just yesterday sometimes.

You might like reggae fest now. It’s a drunk fest. I think all the hippies grew into beer bores.

Nice report, was up for vacation week. Had three great days wed-fri. My seven year-old loved double bitter for his first official black diamond, he is officially faster then his mom and grandmother, just waiting for it to be my turn. And got my 3 year old skis for the first time.

Run of the week for me was Nitro (Not icy!) to Powder Keg from the top to Misery Whip to Broccoli Garden.

Everything off Spillway X-Cut was awesome and steep as always.

I would like to see some sorta surface lift going from down low in Bracket connecting to the bottom of King Pine. The traverse back over sucks. Makes for short vertical laps over there. I don't mind hiking up Burnt a bit, it's the bottom traverse over that sucks.

How about some sort of lift or even golf cart / ATV service along Bigelow Mountain Road / Adams Mountain Road to connect the bottom of Rough Cut glade to the bottom of Whiffletree ?

I say bring back the whiffletree and king pine tbars to wind proof it.

I have ended up taking stubs all the way to the bottom and walking up to the sawduster chair at the inn or snubber midstation more then once by missing the lowest cut over to whiffletree.

I thought I had heard they had already started cutting the extension runs this summer. Oh well, 2 more years I guess. Perhaps the new TL6 will be ready for day 1. Once that is in, SL should jump ahead of SR for first Boyne to open. TL has a distinct elevation advantage and Bucksaw can be the up/download once TL6 is in.

I did that Saturday. Had to do the walk of shame and start again at the bottom of the SL lift network.
