Snow: PP, lots of powder to push around, fresh pow not really to be found. Winter conditions, snow was not spring-like but did warm up to make it very carveable and fun.

Day 1:
Got out early, but not early enough... Around 8:30 am and they were already filling up Lot E. Walked up to the lodge instead of taking the bus and got out there. Warmed up off the superquad with Kings Landing, a great wide blue groomer... This was my girlfriends introduction to Sugarloaf, so I wanted to start off with some runs I knew she would love. We then worked our way towards spillway and hit Sluice. Sun was out, couple of ghost clouds out there, very comfortable on the mtn -- probably 25 up top, 35-40 at the base.
We then worked our way to my favorite part of the mountain, King Pine quad. Ripped down Haulback, Widowmaker/Choker for some bumps, Flume held the scratchiest of the weekend being steep and slightly ski'd off- Hit some more bumps under Spillway, and checked out the coverage in stubs glade. Time to make my way to the snowfields...

After coming to Sugarloaf a few times a year for about 5+ years, the timeliness of my visits was not right and the snowfields really were never open... I always thought it was more of a marketing gimmick, 'we have above tree-line skiing, who else in the east does?' Its no gimmick. We headed off the backside, and I really didn't know what I was getting myself or gf into -- Fantastic views, and some nice snow and bumps to start... As we curled around ski'rs left (I wasn't sure how much of ski'rs right I could risk before having to traverse out) and ended up above the King Pine lift. The snowfields are truly unique, and some of the best runs in the east I've done as far as challenge and views go. On a bluebird powder day, I can see why their marketing/photographer's eat that up... I ripped ripsaw, biggest bumps on the hill from what I saw -- that combo makes for a great run.

Ended the day in the widowmaker, seth wescott happened to do his toast right above our table and we snapped some pics and shook his hand to congratulate him.

Day 2: Friends that enjoyed Saddleback on Sat joined us today at the Loaf.
Got a slightly later start, and crowds were out again. Same lot, same drill.
Rode singles line most of the morning, got in some of the favorites of sat (Haulback, backside snowfields) Also added nitro on the frontside, trying to find powder-keg -but seemed more like a windblown keg with some chunks of tree/rock ice mixed in...
Sun was out again, soft snow, great coverage -- enjoyed Binder, Hayburner, Wedge, Boomauger -- ended the day with a beer above the beach on the widowmakers balcony.

Great weekend, pics added soon.... Lets keep the TR's going as AZ summit approaches!

Great TR for a great day at the Loaf! I was thinking of getting in on the whole Wescott appreciation day thing but decided that the skiing was too good to pass up. If you stayed skier's right on High Rigger, it would have dumped you out on Hard Tack which is sort of a bumpy traverse that leads into Cant Dog glade/Ripsaw. Cant Dog is actually a nice glade but it was too firm in the morning. I actually made a big mistake by heading out to the backside on my first run. With no warm up, the combo of bumps on Hard Tack, firm snow in Cant Dog and huge bumps on Ripsaw fried me!
