My vote is for Sugarloaf cause it's taller and better looking.

Never been to Saddleback. I love the River. Enjoy visiting to the Loaf. Loaf's distance to far for me on a weekly basis. slacker

River is my choice.

Why choose just one? Mainers have it pretty good with two on the same pass and $40 day tickets at the third. The Loaf has the best terrain, but they're all good.

Too much SB v Stowe (and WF is really cool too ) talk. Trying to bring a little Maine love! :-D

Sugarloaf is in the AZ banner so it must be the best around. . . ;-)

Haven't been to SR or Saddleback, but Sugarloaf is in my top 3 for sure. How could this not make you smile:

Tough one to call but I'll go with SR just cause it's a bit of a shorter drive for me and I seem to be there every other weekend.

My vote is for the River...IMHO it spreads the crowds better on the busy days, better lift system, better snowmaking, better grooming, less exposed to the elements...especially wind....far fewer wind holds at SR than SL.
The loaf usually gets more snow and has a better apres atmosphere...and a tighter community vibe...and its got the snowfields. In the end its like choosing between the hot blonde and the hot redhead...they're both great, but some people just choose one over the other.

Between Sunday River and Sugarloaf, definitely have to go with the Loaf. I am not a fan of Sunday River - everything is just too manufactured there.
I haven't been to Saddleback, but I've heard good things. I'm not going to kid myself, I'm probably never going to make it there.

i like them all equally but for different reasons. saddleback is my personal favorite in new england after any snow event. i had two very unreal powder experiences there last year and each day was a couple days after the fact. i will greatly miss sunday river (place keeps bringing me back for many years now), and it skiers this winter.

I have never been a Sunday River fan.

SR has a lot to offer, I will grant that. (I've been there for 15 a season for the last three.) On the minus side, it's very McMountain, it lacks vertical and the layout leaves a lot to be desired.

How can you not love the 'Loaf? Yes, It's not what it once was, some of the trails have been blown out, but there is still plenty of character. Yes, It's a haul. and It's always worth it.

Saddleback: Really one of my faves in New England. Lots of classic terain, freindly people, never a crowd and one of the best T-bars for eating eclaires.:spin: It's equal parts Burke, MRG witha dash of Magic and 'Loaf for flavor. From the South, It's about the same trip as the Loaf. I have day tripped it at least once a season for the last three and I've had some of the best days of the season there.
