Date(s) Skied: 11/23-25/11

Resort or Ski Area: Sunday River

Conditions: Freshies, chowder, permacord, spring conditions & some death cookies

Trip Report: Daytripped to the River 3 days this week. Got every condition from fresh natural to midwinter snowmaking to spring bumps.

Wednesday: Freshies! Only the Locke triple open. Open slopes got tracked up very fast, no surprise. Lots of soft stuff to play on on the sides all day. The groomed areas of the trails were harsh and pretty scraped up with a deathcookie zone on Cascades. Quite a bit if activity on the natural cover trails and folks heading over to Ecstasy & Right Stuff.

Thursday: Skied 8 to 11. Snowmaking was back in action on Ecstasy, South Ridge & Spruce. Barker quad opened. 1st run was Sunday Punch. What Looked like smooth cord was a bit firmer than expected, It may have softened up later. Lots of ungroomed soft stuff left on both sides of Right Stuff. Ran laps on that until around 10, then ran T2/Cascades until home duty called. T2 had good lines on either side and race training in the middle. Right side of Cascades still had leftovers, except for the death cookie zone above Tempest.

Friday: Skied 12 to 3:30. Spruce had stopped turning by noon so I couldn't make the pilgrimage over there. From the number of cars parked along Roadrunner it must have been a very busy morning. 1st row parking and ski on lifts at noon though! The top of Barker had to be at least 10 degrees warmer than the bottom. As the warm air dropped lower the conditions became softer and softer. Natural cover was pretty spanked, though still being enjoyed by some. Stuck to the soft bump line on the right side of Right Stuff until my legs gave out, couldn't quite make it to last chair.

I'm sure the springlike conditions continued for the weekend, we'll see what the weather gods send us this week.
