Day 9 – 12/9/05
Today was great. I awoke at 5:00 to see snow and have my subcontrator call to sat he canceled his crew and called off work for the day. I saw my wife had a snowday so we packed up and left. It was along drive with the freezing windshield, road conditions, etc. Anyway we were on the slopes at noon. It was snowing and there was probably 4” on the slopes. The conditions were so much better than last weekend. The trails of the day was Upper Downdraft to Escapade with Amex a close third. Downdraft had nice soft mandmade snow and bumps. They were making snow on Dreammaker which was not open. Making snow on Auldra, Lights Out and Northern Lights. Most “bread and butter trails” on Spruce, Barker, and Locke were open. Oh yeah T2 was awesome when hike through the woods to get the 4th set of tracks of the day. Stopped snowing at 3pm.
Day 10 – 12/10/05
The snow was awesome today. Nice fluffy snow on the sides of the trails. We were on Barker at 8 and had 6 runs by 9. 2” of fluff on top of nicely groomed trails . Then we hit T2 which was great as we head probably the 10th and 11th set of tracks. Nice fluff on skiers left.
Then we headed over to Spruce. Lower Risky and Amex had same nice fluff along skiers left. Downdraft had frozen solid, not nice like yesterday.
Trail of the day was still Escapade, although Dreammaker was a close second with guns still blow at the top. Big whales down the middle of the Dreammaker and lots of fluff on skiers left. Snow being made on Dreammaker, Northern lights, Tempest, Obsession, Salvation, Heat’s Off.
Day 11 – 12/11/05
On the lift at 8. Cruised all the Barker trails which had nice corduroy for the first two runs. I got second tracks on T2 with some hiking. Then we went to spruce. Risky and Amex had nice edgable snow. Then we hit North Peak where Escapade and Dreammaker had the best snow of the day. We left at 10:30 when things started to get crowded, plus I needed to get home to snow blow the driveway which had over 9” of settled snow from Friday’s storm.
Good skiing though.
