What a day, what a day! Arrived at the South Ridge Lodge around 11:30 to sunny skies and the temperature was 48F. This was going to be a fun outing at the river. Made my way over to Aurora to ski Northern Lights, soft CUR and LSGR, great cruiser to warm up. Next was Air Glow, same surface conditions, great to put your edges in and move! Next was to Flying Monkey via Witch Way, it looked a little thin and decided to check out Wizard’s Gultch first to see what it may be like.
Up the Jordan Bowl Express and down Rogue Angel, probably my favorite blue square in New England. Soft cruising snow, blew right by WG because I was having too much fun with it. So much so I did it again, soft, almost mid March type snow! Lollapalooza to Blind Ambition next. Blind had nice coverage, moderate bumps, great snow to carve in! Hit it again and then to Wizard’s.
Wizard’s Gulch, this trail provides a challenge of fairly tight trees and nice places to pop off of. Coverage was nice with soft snow and bumps to boot. No one else on the trail when I descended. TC was a bummer when you continued below the lift line. The solution? Veered a left down Caramba! the next run! Knock it down!
From the Jordan lift Lost Princess looked to have some nice bumps. And it did! Got a little ahead of myself and ended up massacring a few… Or should I say they threw me around! Great work out on the legs, I need to ski bumps better!
Over to Spruce to ski Risky Business another great Sunday River cruiser! Soft LSGR all the way. Up Barker and down Lazy River to Last Tango, and that dance needs some loving from Mother Nature. Back up and down Right Stuff, love that trail when no one else is on it! Over to Locke Line next via Jungle Road. I liberated a few rocks here and there but have always liked that trail. No too wide, decent pitch with some bumps. From there to Crossbow to Tightwire. Soft LSGR and even some CORN on those. One more down Right Stuff and called it a day.
Funny to think on Tuesday while at Waterville Valley the wind was blowing and pushing temperatures below and zero and two days later it’s almost fifty! Love New England!
