Trip Report: Two gorgeous spring days at SR this past weekend.

Saturday was VERY busy. I think it was a combination of the collegiate event going on, along with some amazing weather. Sunday was much less busy, particularly in the afternoon.

Took my first run ever through Blind Ambition on Saturday... I'll make it short and say, I'll be back in there very soon... It was a blast.

Airglow was also pretty awesome, playing in the bumps on the side of that trail was quite fun.

Hit the 3D bumps, flailed around a bit, but got into a decent rhythm by the end.

The bottom of Amex / Downdraft / Grand Rapids got pretty bumpy towards the end of the day, and that was fun, aside from avoiding the people falling all over the place...

Spent some time on the magic carpet (sundance) as well, as one of my buddies came up for his first ever day snowboarding. He did pretty well, and had fun, he'll be back soon.

Sunday we headed back out with a smaller crew, as two of our buddies had to leave to referee a fencing tournament, and my buddy who had his first day on Saturday decided to take the day off on Sunday and recover...

We had some amazing runs on Locke... Bim's Whim was simply spectacular, and we hit Monday Mourning just after it re-opened from racing, had to go back for seconds on that one. Amazing fun to rip T2 -> Monday Mourning with no one around (the masses hadn't figured out it was open yet I guess), perfect corn snow and GS turns... Such a blast.

Ventured out to Aurora and skied Vortex twice because it was a ton of fun.

Headed back out by myself after lunch, in search of some more ungroomed stuff. Hit uppercut (awesome), 3D (awesome), Absolutely (Spectacular), tried to hit crossbow / tightwire, but patrol had closed it... must have been getting thin... Either that, or with the racing on Monday Mourning, they had killed the trail ofr the day. I don't know which one...

One of the most fun runs of the weekend though was Amex (below where downdraft comes in) past the spruce lift and down tourist trap. Amazing corny hero bumps on a nice intermediate pitch, ending with a quick shot of some steeper bumps on the last pitch of tourist trap. Simply a perfect way to end an amazing day.

I suck in the bumps, but I feel like I made some significant progress this weekend, and had a lot of fun doing it.

Can't wait to get back out there.

Awesome spring days indeed! Didn't have a bad run all weekend. We stayed at Oz most of the day Saturday to avoid the crowds. I was surprised to see there was a small liftline there, you never see that. :-o

When they put the fences up for racing on Monday Morning they do close Tight Wire, I'm assuming it's because the fences block the exit but I can't understand why they would close Crossbow. Crossbow dumps out onto Sunday Punch. I didn't ski Crossbow this past weekend but I thought I saw it open at the top between Sunday Punch and Monday Morning.

I remember seeing skiers on it (crossbow) at one point when I was on the locke chair... I don't remember if that was Saturday or Sunday, however...
