No kidding! They were out in less than an hour!

I can't believe how much Ethan took to skiing today (well, the magic carpet, anyway). At 2.5 it's expecting a lot to think he'd handle holding a wedge, but he had fun shuffling around, riding up the magic carpet, and tried to get in line for the Little Joe chairlift while I was occupied otherwise!

We need to do this more often! I didn't get to hang with the girls today, seeing as I was Ethan's magic carpet assistant, but I know Mags enjoyed seeing them. :D

The little ones deserve a TR, don't they?

Fun day today. Livie turned four this weekend and she did great on the hill yesterday. Way more than I expected out of her. I think the kids feed off each other. She started skiing totally independently yesterday and seemed to be even making little turns. Every time I tried to pull her along I got the old, "I can do it myself!" She's going to be a future ripper, I can feel it.

2knees is hilarious. Whether he's skiing bumps or teaching his little girls to ski, it's to the extreme. Nice job juggling two kids at the same time on the hill today. they were doing awesome. Avery was blowing me away with her skiing right out of the gate. Riley was getting it too. We'll have to get them out with both my girls someday.

Mags was getting it. Keep plugging away at it with her Brian. I think it took my kids about 6 or 7 days with the skiing backwards thing until they got it. Congrats to Ethan on tearing up the magic carpet too!

:)

Fun day today, had both kids with me, and it was the first time this year I actually got to ski with both of them for any significant period of time. Both will be better skiers than me before long-- you can really see the improvement the lessons are having on them. I no longer say a word, out of fear I will screw them up.

We basically rotated Canyon, noreaster and gunbarrell, with one run on stinger as it wasn't too crowded. Only downside, I was skiing on newly tuned skis (not the twisters) and they were the definition of grabby, particularly at lower speeds. Was catching an edge several times each run. Led to leaning back, which was disaster on the ice. Finally figured it out later in the day and stayed well centered (edges must have improved a little too).

Thats awesome! Greg/Brian/Carrie - and others. Great to hear your little ones are taking to the sport we love. Keep the trip reports and videos coming, you know I love this stuff.

She was starting to get it, but then started getting distracted or tired (or both). I think we did one or two runs too many. She has a tendency to be all or nothing, in other words no wedge at all or a huge wedge so that she stops completely. When she thought she got going too fast (which wasn't very fast) she would just sit down. There was a few times that she turned a little, but I think it was mostly by accident...

Ethan was having a blast riding the carpet, shuffling down to the bottom was just a means to ride the carpet again. I wasn't too worried about trying to teach him anything, as long as he had fun.

Wow, all the kids look like they are doing great! You can see it on their faces....all smiles!

As a parent, you just can't beat the site of your kid all smiles while on the slope with you!

Great job moms and dads! With my kids at 30 years old it is still a turn-on when they call and ask dad where he's skiing on the weekend and to have them join me!

yeah, that was quite a juggling act alright. Dee flipped when riley told her she was riding the lift by herself. i was nervous as hell about that too but she handled it ok. First time unloading she had to jump about 2 feet down as she waited too long to get off.

In all honesty, it was kind of nerve wracking cause avery kept taking off down the hill. She was waiting at the bottom like 3 or 4 times. just sitting there, patiently waiting....

great to see all the kids out there having fun. we have to do that again.

I don't know how you did it! I felt bad that I couldn't help, especially when it came to the chairlift ride. Once they get the hang of it, though, it'll be good to get the girls skiing together. They'll have someone to ride the lift with, wait with, or just plain ski with, KWIM?

At least lift 3 is super low to the ground (where you load and unload) and slow.

Your kids were looking good out there. A lot more confident than Mags.

I can see my kids (currently teens) doing that just to get their old man to pay for the lift tickets.:smash: Asked my daughter (16) when she was going to stop wanting to travel with us. She said "when you start going to boring places". She drives next year so I would imagine we'll see less of her.

For all you parents of younger skiers, check out the ski passports several states offer. I know NY has a 4th grade passport, and some others have 5th and maybe 6th grade passports. Its a great way to get around and save several bucks in the process.
