Tucker Brook Trail Question

Skied at Mittersill this season which made me do a bit of investigation into other trails at the area. Who has skied the original Tucker Brook trail that runs down the back-side of Cannon? If you have, could you provide any personal experience - pictures, tips, difficulty, how much snow needs to be on ground, etc. thanks - thinking about next year!

was able to find this http://www.telemarktips.com/GoodmanFeature.html

The Taft goes into Mittersill not the 'back side' of Cannon. You need to spot a car at Mitersill or be up for a walk back to the Cannon base. Mitersill when it was developed included the Taft ski trail.

Are you refering to the Coppermine or Tucker Brook trails?

Tuckerbrook trail actually starts after you have hiked the shoulder to the top of Jackson Mt(Mittersill) from the bottom of Taft at Cannon. When you start down the Mittersill side Tuckerbrook drops off to the left through a narrow opening. You MUST have a car parked near Tuckerbrook road unless you want to thumb or walk about 3 miles back up to Cannon if you want to ski the whole trail. There are trails that cut off to the right and make it skiable back to Mittersill but you really need to know where these are or you are in deep do do.The trail is a classic New England trail cut by the CCC in the 30's.The top portion is what's called 13 turns which traverse and then go straight down the falline 13 times. The it meanders for quite a while with secret off shoots until it comes out at the top of Tuckerbrook Road.A must do for any skier that would like a backcountry experience.
