West Dover, VT (March 18, 2012) - Mount Snow Resort hosted the 5th Annual Carinthia Open with more than 110 professional and amateur skiers and riders taking on a slopestyle course in The Gulch; one of the eight terrain parks at Mount Snow's Carinthia which is the only all freestyle terrain mountain face in the East. Top amateurs went home with armloads of prizes from event sponsors and top professionals will be cashing checks they earned from part of the $10,000 purse.

In front of a good size crowd on a sunny St. Patrick's Day, every competitor seemed to step it up a notch throwing technical tricks on the rail section at the top of the course and launching huge airs off the three 45-55 foot kickers at the bottom of the course.

Vermonter Dale Talkington took first in the pro men's ski division, Jamie Crane-Mauzy won the women's pro ski division and Cody Ellison stood atop the podium for the men's pro snowboarders.

The Carinthia Open is an Association of Freeskiing Professionals (AFP) Bronze Certified Event and is open to male and female skiers and riders at the professional amateur levels.

Event sponsors include Skull Candy, Bern, Smith Optics, Rome SDS, Contour, Freeskier Magazine, Neff and Rossignol.
