does anyone have an old pair of telemark boots lying around that they would like to sell. I just picked up a pair of army surplus skis, bindings and skins for $25 and i cant really bring myself to spend more than $75. I've been checking on ebay lately and there hasn't really been anything in my price range. I wear a size 10.5 so anything within a size either direction would work

What skis and bindings did you get? What kind of skiing do you want to do? If you have 75mm 3 pin bindings and just want to bushwack a bit, you can find leather touring boots pretty cheap. Check Sierra Trading Post online or ski swaps.

If you want to lift ski and desire plastic boots, $75 is a pretty low starting point. Many folks (like me) can only wear Garmonts due to foot shape. Others can only wear Scarpas. You have to try some on and see what fits you.

Try TeleTurnAround on telemarktips.com for some good deals.

dont mess with teleboots. A good fit can be great, a bad fit is a nightmare. Also bladders tend to wear out. Just suck it up and purchace the right boot for you. Buying rentals are also pretty good because so few people rent tele gear. Often they are only used once or twice....just find the right fit and your set.

If you plan on lift skiing you might as well get good boots. First, demo or rent. There's no point buying anything until you decide it's the right boot for you. Get to a ski area that rents boots and they'll likely have Scarpa or Garmont but not both. If you can find a good demo day then that's even better, as you'll be able to try both.

You'll probably be looking at Scarpa T2 or Garmont Veloce or Syner-G. Those are a step down from the biggest boots out there but still offer lots of control. New boots cost over $500, so getting deals is pretty tough. Buying old rentals are a good option, also check ski shops for consignment gear. But there's no point buying before you know what size fits you.
