With the warmer weather I wanted to get to a lower elevation place that would possibly be warm enough to really soften up. I figured why not go to Tenney for the 1st time in about 20 years. With my CHAD rideandskine card it was 2-1 $35 tickets so, $17.50 each for my companion and me, quite the lift ticket bargain.
The main lift there is still the same as it was back then a slow old double chair.. Coming up towards the top there was still some remaining ice on the trees and the ungroomed slopes were an interesting perfectly flat surface

The lines in the ice are not from a skier or boarder, it's where the ice chunks falling off of the trees came to rest.

More evidence of recent freezing rain in a picture of trees near the summit:

Once on the groomed trails the conditions were still variable, but fast and grippy for the most part. Anywhere in the sun became quite soft towards afternoon and as the sun angle went down later it started to refreeze, which pretty much signaled the end of the day.

Here's a pic from "Sunflower" which had a 5050 groom with the skiers left featuring breakable crust and the groomed side with a variety of soft spring snow and some frozen granular as the angle increased a bit lower.

As the sun went down the ice really gleamed going up the chair

Anyway despite the variable conditions and painfully slow chairlift we had a fantastic time with the long blue/easy black cruisers and pleasant weather. I'd say Tenney would be a decent place to get to on a powder day since there will be little competition for the fresh lines. The drawback being a lack of true steep terrain. There are some nice tree runs and steeper shots with deep coverage just waiting for the next storm.
