Kevin Broderick, The IT Manager and Representative for Bolton Valley Resort has agreed to take the 2006 Alpine Zone Challenge!!! This is your opportunity to ask questions, offer suggestions, or say some praise to the men and women who are in charge of the Northeast’s Ski Areas. Please post some suggested questions in this thread and we'll select ten to present for official responses.

Also please don't be offended if we edit/change your question for grammar, tone, or some other minor thing. In order to get in all of the questions we MAY merge some questions but we'll do our best to keep the substance of your question. If we don't get your question in, feel free to post a follow up after we get the results...we are encouraging the representatives follow the threads.

As always, please be respectful of Kevin and keep it civil. Also, please refrain from asking specifics about skier visit numbers, financials, demographic information, etc. Bolton needs to be discrete about certain information.

We are honored to have Bolton join us for their first ever AZ Challenge!!! Please take advantage of this special opportunity!

Ask away!

1) To what extent has new ownership been able to bring together the various pieces of the base area after it had been dispersed in the wake of the Deslauriers and Dwinell ownership groups?

2) Does Bolton have any plans to more aggressively market its access to prime backcountry skiing and touring terrain (i.e Bolton-Trapp and other trails)?

My son and I had the chance to ski your resort for the first time this past March and we experienced night skiing in Vermont for the first time as well. Having 10" of powder fall while we where there was an unexpected bonus.

My questions:

1) How has skier traffic patterns/crowds changed with the installation of the Vista Quad?

2) Are there any plans to expand the night skiing terrain?

3) Are there plans for more trails/glades in the future?

4) Could you describe the degree of difficulty and the challenge of the backcountry glades? While we did have alot of snow on our visit, some gladed areas where still closed and we would like to revisit the mountain this winter.

Thank you for taking the AZ challenge. I hear some great things about you resort however, I was curious why you didn't upgarde your Vista quad. It seems like the trails could support a HSQ.

I was checking out some maps on skitown.com and I stumbled across the following statement.

"Bolton Valley ski resort is the only full-service ski resort on private land in New England."

Is this true? If so what are the implications?

Kevin--

Thanks for getting this to happen. I'm wondering if we can get some perspective on the Bolton/Jay College Pass Program. Burke used to have a similar program and I know it was popular. Have you considered extending this pass to include other resorts?

Also, I think that you have found a nice niche market (locals and those who can no longer afford to ski Sugarbush or Stowe). I see and hear a lot more about Bolton than ever before. Has bringing the resort "down home" made things work?

And why not promote your snowfall averages or work to extend the season when others are cutting theirs? You get snow that almost rivals places like Jay (some seasons you are over 300"). Bolton is a great place and has stunning views and terrain options. Yet folks seem not to know that. Why do you think they are missing the turn?

Any more work on getting a Bolton Exit off of I-89?
