Isn't now the time that we should harass those we know who complained about the cold weather this past winter? I say that those people aren't allowed to be indoors in an air-conditioned room...let them go out and enjoy the "glorious hot weather"...:smash:

I think maybe we should go after that guy who was complaining about Jiminy running the guns midweek during the day and disrupitng his midweek pass skiing again ;)

Nothing is as good as Chez Ashton's poutine in Quebec city. I'd go just for that, the skiing is just a side attraction!

I'm looking forward to my first trip to Tremblant this winter. Poutine is high on my list of things to try.

They don't have Chez Ashton's there unfortunately. Chez Ashton's actually has 25+ restaurants in Quebec City (their burgers rock too), and none anywhere else!?! They literally have more restaurnats in Quebec city than Mc D, BK and Wendy's combined. I don't know why they don't move into the Montreal market. It's not like it's a distribution logistics nightmare, it's not even a 2 hour drive. Ah well. I'm sure some place will have half decent poutine over there but nothing tops Poutine avec des mini saucisses at Chez Aston! :-D

December (Whistler) January (Steamboat - wife), February (Utah - Kids), and April ((Boys week) trips are in the bag. March trip tbd, but will be arranged shortly. You snooze you lose.

Afraid to book trips too early. We have gotten burned lately by the erratic weather. Last season we had to cancel Tahoe but ended up in Jackson, so that worked out. Went to Utah in Jan but it was pretty dicey, though Solitude had the goods.

My usual trisk is to plan trips where there's many resorts. If some have a weather problem, chances are the other ones have it working for them.

Truly, you never know, and I've had times when I was siomewhere and should have been somewhere else, but I now have the air, hotel and car booked - really - how bad could it be? Better than knowing it's epic and all the hotels are full.

You paya you money, you takea you chances.

Unless it's Utah - I usually wait until I can get a grip on snowpack, etc...
Planned a trip to JH last year... Was super lucky.. Lots of awesome slack country stuff available..

Just thinking about a trip now..
Would like to get back to interior BC again.. KH,Fernie, etc... But I have friends living near JH again this year... May be tough to pass up..
Also have a co-worker that lives near Aspen...

Also tossing around a snowcat trip in BC...

I book west trips early to get the best rates and point availability. I only do day trips, or 2 day'ers in the East as I'm a believer that a bad day in the west is still better than..........

The Jan trip to Steamboat is for the wife, as she's a blader and likes trees, but not a huge challenge. She's never been there so I think I'll score points for the terrain there. I have to do some searching regarding the Cat skiing they have, as I know she won't go out everyday, so I'll do the cat on her day off

Feb in Utah with the kids will be fun. They're pretty good so I can show them my favorite stashes from Alta to Snowbasin. It's their school holiday so timing isn't negotiable.

Sometime I sure would like to do interior BC though. My Whistler yahoo buddies tell me it's worth the trip.

Kicking Horse is on the Alberta/BC border. You fly into Calgary and get there by car. 2 1/2 hour drive. It's quite close to Lake Louise. If you stay at Lake Louise you can go to Kicking Horse 1 hour 1 way, or Sunshine, 1 hour the other. Kicking horse would be a HARD 8 hour drive from Vancouver, and with Whistler right there, the question would be why??

Because I have customers in Van, so I arrange meetings to start from mid-week to mid-week and get a 3-dayer by going up early on Friday and stay through the weekend.

I'm trying to cultivate some customers in Alberta too, so this sounds like additional incentive.

Hee hee hee hee hee. Yeah, I'd stick to Whistler and the places on Vancouver Island when in Vancouver. Kicking Horse would be very hard to get to from there and it's apparently a horrible drive. I've never driven it, but I know avid drivers who won't touch it (mountain passes, poor roads etc). Crystal on the island is part of Boyne, so if you get a SR/Loaf pass you ski there half price or free? They are starting to ramp things up there for the Olympics in 2011 this year by installing some new lifts and trails etc too. It's the freestyle venue.
