According to Troy Hawks, director of communications for the National Ski Areas Association in Lakewood, CO,, the average skier is 35 years old — a demographic that's squarely on target with the peak career years of many incentive participants. "Within the last several years, resorts have made more of an effort to identify and then cater to specific demographics," he said. "They're offering special packages aimed at groups like seniors or Boomers, and they're grooming the slopes to suit the styles of those skiers."

makes sense......from what I see skiing locally and on ski trips...

There's a fair amount of little kids...alot of teenagers college aged kids...from mid 20s to mid 30s not so many as I think alot of people that age are in debt, work a whole lot, have little kids or just stop skiing...then there seem to be alot of 40-60 somethings which likely balance out most of the young-uns..just my inflation adjusted two cents..

I'd say that's a fair view

At 33, I find that I don't run into very many people my age on the hill. Many of my friends who were diehards in high school through their mid 20's no longer ski due to work / young kids etc. I hope to still get out 20-25 days a year when J and I start having kids in the next year or two, but my guess is it will be more in the 10-15 range for several years.

At training for the job I start Sept. 1 the person I am replacing was telling me how he comes in every other Sunday...I just kind of looked at him funny...I would rather stay late any day of the week than give up my weekends.

I think I should look for a government job when this job is over in a year...love the vacation time afforded.

Almost everyone I skied with growing up doesn't get out anymore. I've got to college buddies who head out 2-4 times a year.

I have a friend like what who comes into the office on the weekend to get work done uninterupted..I often have customers who ask if we're open on Saturdays..the weekends are not for work IMHO unless you are in hospitality/services..neither are evenings. I'm so spoiled by getting out at Noon most Fridays..44 more minutes until the weekend..

On topic..with people having less and less kids..I see the average age increasing..

Now that I think about it..most of my non-skiing friends who are late 20s/early 30s don't really have any hobbies. In their leisure time they go to the bar or casino and take vacations to warm spots. When I go to Jackson Hole they're always like....oh wow...and some don't understand how much better it is than here in PA..

I guess most of friends (minus a handful) are snowboarding / ski friends as well. Probably hang out with more time on the mtn with them than anywhere else...I am really not into chillen at a bar and drinking much. I have been only hitting the sauce lately when I am going to a show.

GSS -- i think you need to get out of pa.

I have been going to the bar like crazy lately cause once ski season starts I don't go there. I think I went out 4 nights last week. There's just something about drunk college chicks that have me spending $$$$$. I did meet one girl last week who skis. She doesn't have a season pass at Blue but a 6 time pass through a ski club..so maybe I'll get to ski with her this season..
