Political Corrections

Kentuckians, Tennesseans and West Virginians will no longer be referred
to as "HILLBILLIES." You must now refer to them as APPALACHIAN-AMERICANS.

And furthermore,

HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT WOMEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

1. She is not a "BABE" or a "CHICK" - She is a "BREASTED AMERICAN."

2. She is not "EASY" - She is "HORIZONTALLY ACCESSIBLE."

3. She is not a "DUMB BLOND" - She is a "LIGHT-HAIRED DETOUR OFF THE
INFORMATION SUPERHIGHWAY."

4. She has not "BEEN AROUND" - She is a "PREVIOUSLY-ENJOYED COMPANION."

5. She does not "NAG" you - She becomes "VERBALLY REPETITIVE."

6. She is not a "TWO-BIT HOOKER" - She is a "L OW COST PROVIDER."

HOW TO SPEAK ABOUT MEN AND BE POLITICALLY CORRECT:

1. He does not have a "BEER GUT" - He has developed a "LIQUID GRAIN
STORAGE FACILITY."

2. He is not a "BAD DANCER" - He is "OVERLY CAUCASIAN."

3. He does not "GET LOST ALL THE TIME" - He "INVESTIGATES ALTERNATIVE

4. He is not "BALDING" - He is in "FOLLICLE REGRESSION."

5. He does not act like a "TOTAL ASS" - He develops a case of

6. It's not his "CRACK" you see hanging out of his pants - It's his

Good one.. that stuff never gets old....

Believe of not... This "lib" gets busted all the time for being politically incorrect.

I was having a meeting with a few guys from Saudi Arabia.... At the end of the meeting i asked them "how much they pay for gas?" - I mean why not? It's what they do there... So why hide it..
they said they paid around around 80 cents a gallon... I said if i paid that i'd never leave my car... I told them we pay clsoe to $5 they couldn't believe it...

the Sales Guys that was with me - scolded me for asking such questions.. But I gained a relationship with these guys and they pick up the phone when I call... I respect the culture... I didn't do the stuff that i was warned not to do.. I was just being me..

i may be going to Saudi Arabia now... Going to rent a car and drive for hours there... :)

That isn't politically incorrect, it's being inquisitive of foreign culture and way of life.

I'm assuming it was posed in a curious tone, and not a jealous/argumentative tone.

Curious...

i was warned to be super professional with these guys... You have to be careful with Middle eastern cultures... Some stuff we do normally is an insult to them..

Yes - I'm curious - but i also want to earn their business...

In my experience (Europeans, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, South American - decently wide range,) people are generally very tolerant of polite curiosity. It shows a willingness to understand them, and gives them a chance to talk about their culture and whatnot. Despite cultural differences, I think people across the world have a decent number of common traits, one of them being inquisitiveness and a desire to understand. Maybe Mid Eastern people are different, I haven't really dealt with many of them.

Cultural differences are different, where things people take for granted are interpreted differently by other cultures. Probably the best known is the handshake/bow, but extending it to my point above, my guess is that it would be taken much more favorably to ask the opinion of your Mid Eastern clients on bowing than to actually bow to them; it might just end up being a little awkward.
