Lower loop snowmaking pipe is going in, per Facebook. Getting the worst parts of that patched/replaced is a big deal for reliability.

We're replacing about 500 feet of air and water on the top of Show Off and sending a new water line from the top of Show Off through the woods above Wand to tie into Hocus. I think this is what kept blowing up on them.

New air and water spur up the middle of lower Hocus to the top of the park with a new valve box for this off the 400 at the bottom.

So the new park feed is off the 400? I would have figured they'd rather have that on the 300 just based on pressure and available GPM, but almost anything is better than running the park from across Hocus.

I agree that 500' stretch was a repeat offender, which is impressive since it's the lowest pressure spot on the low pressure loop.

Any word on an east-west connection at the summit or a 300 to 400 cross feed for the pump house?

Newpylong can provide the real reason, but my guess is it’s easier to put a stub line down off of Carumba into park area?

Also, hearing the park will now be an “advanced” beginner area, and the park will move to lookers right of current placement.

Not off Carumba, it's going to be an upline and stabbed into whatever is just outside the lodge heading up towards the Wizard runout, that's the West Side feed on the 400 right? Maybe they will run that when they run the learning area and have above that shut off.

That's the way I understand it. Uplines have the best pressure by nature. A feed to either side would still be standard topology if Magic was built out today due to where the trails are located. If most of them started up top then a single larger feed that umbrella feeds them would make sense.

Probably a good temporary move until they get a permanent lift solution in the Little Dipper area. I’m sure for good reason they have no appetite for another lift project but that’s an isolated, mellow, beginner area with new snowmaking that’s begging for a way to access it.

I joined volunteer day #3 after some unexpected obligations kept me away from 1 and 2. As seen on social media, we turned a glade that hadn’t been touched in years and maybe offered 2 lines into a very clean multi-line fun zone, with a side to side cliff band of various heights. Also finished worked on exit of Wardrobe, and that on map glade, which was almost unskiable last year, is fully clear.

Major progress on new 300 pipe with the crossover from Blackline and down run across Wand completed. They were welding a piece on Showoff that runs from downhill side of Wand down to former crossover, this being the last section to be completed. They should be on to the 400 line spur for Abracadabra beginner area later this week or next. All the new towers from killington installed last year were set up to receive new nozzles.

Mountain is completely mowed with the exception of a handful of steeps that a crew of “Mountain Goats” (people, not animals) will get to by months end.

With the exception of needing a new shaft, Black lift gearbox etc was in good shape. Luckily the contractors have a shaft and that should be wrapped up in a few weeks too, although an unexpected expense that wasn’t appreciated by management.

Good crowd at Sunshine corner and Tavern. Lots of talk of Thanksgiving skiing! Fingers crossed for a mid/late November cold snap.
