The Beetles were totally pop music at the start. In fact, you could say they were the original pop-music mega-band. Well, them and Elvis.

Disagree... While they were always popular they changed from simple pop songs to more involved arangements..
I think it all changed for them with Revolver..
They abandoned the old style and started experimenting..

Which they were but not "bubblegum pop"... If i can drag that phrase out...
