Thunder Ridge History?

I live 20 minutes from the Ridge, but know almost nothing about it. Opened in 1948 and changed its name later from Big Birch is all I know. I can't find any history about this place online. Anything you guys know? I would love to learn more about my home mountain (no matter how small it is).

I don't go back to 1948 but when i first skied there in the late 60's it was simply named Birch Hill. Maybe I've been back once since then. I know the Lindsey Darts in the Patterson diner are good.
