Lease Over: May 27 2010 (little over 5 mo)

Tires are getting low and I want to replace before the snows start down here. Question is, do i go with a decent M&S tire for the remainder of the lease or put snows on and turn them in with snows on?

Snows will not fly with the lease company. You need to put on a comparable tire, but sometimes the lease requires the same tire. Check your agreement. They will need to be the same size and speed rating if they need to be comparable. Go cheap if only a few miles left. Try Khumos. If you leave snows on they will charge you for new tires and the lease closing fee which is $500 to $1000. you can negoiate this down if the car is clean. I got mine down to $490 from $750, we were way under on mileage too. First and last lease for me.

How many miles are on the tires? I would put nothing on and make due with whats there.

If they are worn and even close to the wear bar. They will charge him for tires and they will $$$$$$.

Put some cheap snows on and keep the originals (if they are not too worn), have the originals put back on before you turn it in. You can either re-use the snows or sell them depending on what you get as a replacement car.

have you considered buying snows, putting the old ones back on in the spring, and either using the snows on another vehicle later or selling the snows used?

and I thought this was a thread about leasing tires :dunce:

hey wa-loaf, you beat me to it!

It depends on how worn they are if this can be done.

throwing some snows on now, then putting back the orig's back on (would still have decent tread life at turn in) isnt a bad idea...anyone here got a set?

I have some Nokian Hakka Q's on steel MK IV VW rims & hub caps in my basement that have enough meat to make it through one season. 195/65R15. Too small for a Volvo, I'll bet. I just want 'em out of my basement so a case of good beer is the asking price.

Ok, I will clarify. I was riterating that they can charge for new tires even if you think they are fine. It comes down to the inspection before turning in the lease.

What did you lease? I Leased Tacoma a few years ago and when I returned it they just checked the mileage and did a quick walk around. Maybe they are more diligent these days.

I have some Blizzaks 16", forget the dimensions. Picked them up for the wheels, came off an MR2 (kind of a lower profile tire than I'd want on my small SUV). Can look at them tonight.

My last lease, Grand Cherokee I brought the p.o.s. Back with the belts showing and brakes down to bare metal. I was getting f'd on over mileage by $6k and a big fight with the dealership so I didn't care. FYI those in MA never do business w/ Premier Jeep.

Quattro: The tires I have are Bridgestone Blizzak WS50AZ 205-55-R16. Totally minimal wear - looks like less than one season. If interested make an offer.
