Yea, that was the one I was thinking of...

That plus the traverse above Headwall Forest, some nice drops there into the woods. Hit waist deep on numerous occasions.

The traverse in Kinsman Glade at Cannon. It is short, but still a traverse. Would the hike up Mittersill be considered a traverse?

That is an absolute no.A true traverse in my mind is for the most part cut across steep terrain that is a little unerving. The taft trail is a walk in the park.Still fun though.

Out west it seems that half the day is spent traversing. I will say it, I am super lazy and my friends are not. I will sometimes take the lower traverses in the bowls/back country and may miss out on a few less turns, not always a big difference. I get a major pain in Þhe lower back of the uphill ski and it sucks. It is usually worth the pain.

Traverse into Slidebrook at Sugarbush is pretty much single skiier width through tight pines and does not open up until you go under the lift.

Good chance since my wife couldn't ski last season. If we do, it'll be end of Feb, beginning of March.

If it turns out like last year i would wait until mid march-april...they got crushed then...and I missed all the goods!!!

The traverse along the wall in Honeycomb Canyon at Solitude. The goodies on the other end make it worth it.

When the rope drops at Honeycomb I head right.. THere's some really nice and steep stiff that i can get a couple times before it gets tracked..

My favorite traverse at Alta is off the Sugerloft lift out to Devil's Castle. As it goes up and around the corner, it appears to keep droping away in front off you. Kind of like traversing into the void. I've had friends freeze up with vertigo (they have claimed).

I think I skied that with you. No freeze up - it was a fun day. We got the Alta-Bird pass and ripped groomers and some bumps with your old ski team buddy at Snowbird in the AM then moved over to Alta and hit Devil's Castle and High Rustler + a few other things in the afternoon.

I spent a winter at Mammoth once and there the traversing was all about staying on the steep faces from top to bottom. If you knew where you were going you could avoid all run outs and cruisers via a network of narrow, high speed, traverses that were well worn in by locals and not much used by tourists. And, I will never forget the traverse into Paranoid flats from the shoulder of the upper mountain ridge when the gondola was closed. The gondola being closed meant it was snowing and blowing... it also meant the top was untracked. Hiking up the ridge line you were exposed to the full strength of the storm as it lashed the high peaks of the Sierras, and then dropping into the traverse you were in a world of whiteness... no trees... no defining features of any kind. Just you the wind and the snow.

Lots of Traversing to do at Alta. The one that I rember most is from the Collins lift over to Alf's High Rustler.

Always lots of locals zipping by you

that skinny ,narrow little traverse to Gunsight that I skied off of,took me awhile to climb back up on the track, with help no less!!

I never traversed more than at Alta. I hope to be traversing in that general direction again this March

Of course when you go ski touring you do lots of up-hill traversing

I always liked putting my skis back on at the top of Eddy's.

There's one at Whistler where your tails are scrapping the rock wall and your tips are hanging out into space.
