This past weekend I decided that I needed to hit the beach for the first time of the year.
Went down to Chincoteague Virginia for a long weekend.

Our vacation place.

On the trip home I pass by Wallops Island, a NASA air base. Parked on the tarmac were 6 F-16's sitting there. There were painted red, white, and blue. I thought those look like the Air Force Thunderbirds, but they wouldn't be just sitting there. When I got home I looked up there show schedule and it was them. They were a cool sight, but unfortunately I could not get any pics.

Nice pics! And it sounds like you had a good time.

I am not much of the picture taker, so there are not many here. I always have a good time there. One of the few places I can do absolutely nothing if I want, and not feel guilty.

Nice pictures of a nice place. :)

Years ago ('77?, '78?) I went early season camping at Assateague with some friends from college. We were sitting around our campsite imbibing, some people noodling on guitars late at night. A park ranger drives up to our site, asking us to keep the noise down, and sees that we have a dog with us. We're told to immediately leave-the camp area borders on a wildlife refuge and dogs are prohibited. So at 1 AM, we pack up our crap and are forced to seek somewhere else to spend the night. Wound up crossing the canal to Chincoteague, finding an RV area similar to your pictures and crashed on the porch of a house trailer that we were pretty sure was unoccupied. Left with massive hangovers the next morning.

It looks like you had fun Down the Shore...I haven't been to the beach in about 4 years..that's when my grandparents sold their beach house in Ocean City NJ..but I'm going to Atlantic City in September so it will be nice to see the ocean..

Always wanted to got there to check out the Wild Horses. Must be pretty cool

Used to be way cooler. The Horses used to roam entirely free on the island. Then the park rangers got angry that the non-indigenous horses were there(only been there several hundred years) so they are now fenced in to a much smaller portion of the island.

Same on Ocracoke Island, NC.

Annual Chincoteague pony round-up still held around July 4th?

Last wed/thurs. of July. Is the famous round up. But they round them up 3 or 4 times a year to give them shots. Only swim them for the one.

Going once was AWESOME to see it. Never again do I have the desire to go again. The place turns into a crazy zoo, way to long to get to the beach(if you can get there at all) restaurants with huge waits. Just not that much fun.
