Looking to get a pair of twin tips for my girlfriend for Christmas.

She told me she doesn't want something 'girly'. I was thinking of getting her a pair of the K2 PEs.

Anyone have any suggestions?

She's looking for something 155-160cm long.

She's never skied a shaped ski before. She has the same pair of 155 blizzard slalom skis that she got as hand me downs from her cousin about 10 years ago.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Why specifically a twin tip and why consider something as fat as the PEs? Ability level of skier in question? Type of terrain normally skied and at what level of proficiency?

She wants a pair of twin tips to play in the park / small hits on the side of trails. She's quite good, been skiing since she was two, she'll ski almost anything at any time (haven't seen her play in the woods at all), really just a natural athlete who is as comfortable skiing as she is fencing (where we met). I've seen her fall twice in all the time we've been skiing together (she usually doesn't push herself skiing with me as I'm still learning), once when we were skiing at sunday river last spring and three of us found a huge soft spot on the side of american express, we all sunk about two feet into the snow and stopped dead.. Myself, her, and our friend who is also pretty good. It was quite comical. The other time I saw her fall was when she thought I fell into a snowmaking pipe, and she was scared for my safety.

When I go take a lesson, she goes and hits the hardest stuff she can find. Last year at loon while I was taking a lesson she was messing around on Angel Street / Upper Walking Boss / Triple Trouble.

As for why the PEs, I know a couple different women who have gotten them and loved them, but I'm open to anything that she'll enjoy.

Don't think I will be able to help you, sorry. You response really does not address exactly what level of proficiency she skis at from an objective point of view. Definitely look at a twin tip if she wants to ski park. Personally, I would never want someone to buy me a pair of skis. If she is of an expert level, she may feel similarly but considering she is still skiing straight skis, that may not be the case and you may have a hard time going wrong as almost anything in the park genre will be an improvement. Looking at a ski based on the thoughts other people have of them doesn't sit well with me as different people prefer different skis and there are always people raving about almost every ski out there. Better to try to match up a particularly ski to the needs, desires, and preferences of the person involved.

I have had the PE's and loved them. I loved how they were real stiff and great all mountain, but I way 250. For someone a bit lighter, you could go with a softer ski. Last year my ski buddie had the K2 Fugitives. He was around 150 or so i would say, and he liked them as a all mountain/park ski. The year before he had PE, and he like the Fugitive better for himself..

Personelly I dont know if I would like the PE if I was real light

Take a look at Nordica Supercharger Olympia. They are 84mm underfoot which would be considered a mid fat. Since she is coming off a pair of old boards, and twin tips are mostly for fun, these would be worth a look. the ski is going to be a big change for her, but if she is managing expert terrain with old blizzards, and she has the athleticism and balance from other sports, she will take to them quickly.
