I was going to go to Big Sky this year since last year did not pan out due to company shutdowns. We started looking yesterday for airfare due the Southwest sale. They were $245 from Manchester to SLC with one stop at Midway. I happened to look at Orbitz and low and behold. I got non-stop on Delta from Logan for $261 for 2/4 - 2/8. I paid $529 two years ago. What a deal! We stay at the La Qunits again for $60/ night. Just need to locate a deal on a rental car. Anybody know any?

I have had great luck with Priceline with the bidding. I usually try a bid of ~55%-60% of the rack rate for rental cars and generally score. Hertz or Avis are usually the car rental agency but sometimes others. You get only one bid a day per vehicle size/type, so you have planety of time.

To get cheap rental cars I first check a site like Orbitz to see who is approximatly the cheapest. Then I find a coupon code using internet searches. The codes can usually be combined with Entertainment book coupons. The coupons can be purchased on ebay dirt cheap. Then I book immediatly even if the price seems high. Most cars are still cancellable at no charge so I check back every so often. When the price drops I rebook. Do a fresh search when looking to lower the price. Some company keep the original price when you change dates and even cars. Also, try changing to an extra day or change even change by a half hour. One company named after a famous San Antonio landmark seems to have a bug in their system, sometime I'll add or subtract 1/2 an hour and the price will drop a huge amount. I've actually seen it drop over $1000 for large SUVs.

This is the one I got in San Fran last year for 12 days. When chenged by 1/2 an hour it was way over $1000.......

Base Rate - Fullsize SUV (USD)
(1) Week Rate ($269.00/week) $269.00
(5) Day Rate ($44.83/day) $224.15

Guaranteed Base Rate Included
(1) Additional Driver Included
Unlimited Miles Included

Subtotal.............................................$493.15

Discounts
Discount ($49.32)
Entertainment Book 2009 ($34.59)

Subtotal............................................($83.91)

Taxes, Surcharges and Fees
Concession Recovery Fee 11.11 % $45.47
Ca Tourism Commission Assessment $11.10
Arpt Transport Fee 17.50/rental $17.50
Sales Tax (8.250%) $37.51

Subtotal.............................................$111.58

Estimated Total......................................$520.82

The La Quinta is now $65 not $49 a night. The START program is still going for a half day free at a Park City Resort with boarding pass. This is going to be cheap for 3 and 1/2 days of skiing.

I go twice a year. last year used kayak for the car rental, got a hyndai sonata for $98.00 for the week. Stayed at the Extended Stay Motel about 1/2 hour from Alta for $50.00 a night. This time I'm waiting for last week in feb or March and April...they got 140 inches in those months which would seem to be the trend lately. In both trips Jan and Feb ..got about 6 inches but still was better than here.

Looks like we will be staying at the Best Western in Sandy. Looks like a better place for $10 more a night. Breakfast is a buffet and hot tub is 24 hours. Close to the mall for the nights.

Tough to find great deals on rental SUVs in Salt Lake City in February. You also get nailed with big taxes and fees if you pick up the car at the airport.

Yes, That is true. I am getting 61/day thru Advantage for a small SUV. Looks like it will be the cheapest.
