Wonder what percentage of employees are already wearing helmets ?

“At Vail Resorts, the safety of our employees and guests is a top priority and we believe the time has come for us to take our commitment to safety to the next level. Our employees will set the example next year for all who enjoy skiing and riding our slopes,” said John Garnsey, co-president of Vail Resorts’ Mountain Division and chief operating officer of Beaver Creek Resort.

Next thing you know they're going to make you pull down the safety bar and they're going to put cliff area signs..really this bull-ish is turning ski resorts into theme parks. Anybody can ski down a quadruple diamond if they put giant foam pits on the side of the trail or bumpers like bumper bowling. It's also a known fact, good skiers only fall on their butts and most instructors and patrollers are good skiers so none of them are ever going to fall on their head..it's all a ploy to sell more helmets and everybody knows that helmets are only affective up to 6mph and they can kill you from whiplash..plus all that extra weight can cause necks to snap..

I'm boycotting Vail and actually all Resorts that encourage helmet use!!!! My cousin who sells headbands and earmuffs is having trouble feeding his kids..nobody wants a nice skihat anymore..man I miss the good old days when men skied in jeans and ladies in stretch pants..when a beer was a quarter and it came with the glass..

How do you know that I'm not Jewish? Besides, my father killed more Nazi's in the 1st Army in that war than you will ever see on tv. He got shot too. I guess driving a German car is an insult also. The rules being thrust upon us are totally Fascist. What's next, jock strap and bra checks in the morning for all employees? I wear a helmet, but that's MY choice.

Vail resorts is not fascist..if they required cafeteria workers to wear helmets that would be going a bit far yet kitchens are dangerous places..you can never be too safe..

I take safety seriously..I will only ride chairlifts with helmet users..it's my choice..I don't want to get a second hand concussion!!!!!

I bought a helmet because I kept getting hit on the head with chairlift bars being slammed down by overzealous gomers. All of them were out of towners.

Out of towners..you mean not everybody is from Saugerties???? Guys...please yell coming down or bar down in several languages and also sign language...OK..and I have my shit together enough that I'm ready for the bar to come down..so I don't have to worry about getting slammed in the head by a safety bar...but me personally I mainly ride Poma lifts and T-Bars because I'm afraid of heights..

No, not everyone from Saugerties. The key word is GOMER. "I don't get it, I don't get it." Boo hoo. Sounds like someone has never gotten cracked on the head yet. I know of someone who was knocked out by a chairlift bar. The person who did it was asked by the Patroler why he slammed it down so fast and the moron said "I'm afraid." I guess I don't have my act together to get out of the way fast enough either. Oh brother.

Let's make this interesting....

To those of you who are in favor of this policy: How would you feel if in addition to instituting the helmet rule, all Vail employees will now have to pass a weekly drug screening?

All for the testing, but not the helmets.....

DMC hit the proverbial nail on the head. Pretty soon we are going to have to pass a proficiency test to be on the mountain to get our "license" to be up there. And pay the fee for the license. There are too many laws and rules in this country as it is.
