Yeah i saw that race on CBC over the weekend it was amazing to see those guys just throw 'em sideways hanging on to survive . Amazing number of injuries so far on this year's world Cup circuit .

I've been watching WC events the past several saturdays and sundays on CBC and several decent skiers are going to miss the Olympics. The coaches are meeting this week in Austria to discuss course settings and other safety concerns .

I've seen a number of GS courses that have had a set that was wider than that SG :eek:

That's almost always been the problem with a SG since it's inception 20 + years ago. Depending on the setting coaches frame of mind (and likely how his/her best racer is skiing at that moment ;) ) you can get a HUGE variance in what the course will be like, moreso than in any other dicipline. Generally though it has seemed that the unwritten rule amongst the coaches with respect to the set of a SG is that it will end up being more of a "turny downhill" than an "open GS" - obviously not the case with that course!
