My mother in law (skating coach) wants to hook her video camera up to a laptop (not purchased yet) so she can play back footage of her students for them on a larger screen than is on the camera. I can't figure out how to get it to work. Essentially, the laptop would be acting as a battery operated TV.

Any ideas?

Close- I want to use the laptop's monitor as the screen, though. I've plugged the camera in through the 4-pin 1394 jack on my laptop. While I can capture video and watch it using MS MovieMaker, the controls aren't much good- no slo-mo, in particular. Plus, it's a multi-step process (more than my mother in law can handle). I'd like to be able to watch the video using the controls on the camera (something she's already familiar and comfortable with)
