Hello all;
I have beat-up Fischer RX8s (165cm) that I love on groomed stuff, but need something wider underfoot for those rare powder/crud/woods days, ideally something okay in the bumps as well.

I demo'd AC-30's in 170cm @ Wildcat the other day. I'm 5'8" 155 lbs and they felt long and stiff, difficult for me to bend...I was exhausted and my legs were screaming at the end of the day like never before. I think I'm too light for them and 163 would have been better...

How much of a regression are AC-20s? I was thinking of looking for some in 163...what about older models like the previous AC-2 or AC-3 etc? Any good 'value' skis out there that can do what I need them to do? What about elan magfires?

any input is appreciated. Thanks

I have played around on both AC-20, and AC-30. I enjoyed both of the skis alot! I liked the 30 more(but I way 250) The 20 was still real fun, nice turner, and could rip decently hard. But for me at a certain point they were a bit soft, and I liked the 30 better.

When I send out the AC-20 for demos, I have yet to have a person come back in that does not like them.

I'm 5'7" and 160. I would think the 163s would be better in either the 20 or 30. I ski on 160s right now, and have tried 170s. 170s aren't terrible, but I felt better on groomers with them, where I didn't need them to be short and snappy.

Based on your weight I can understand why you thought the AC-30 was too beefy at 170. I would go with one of two options...1) the AC30 at 163 or 2) try the AC20 at 170. The AC20 isn't as beefy and will be more forgiving given your weight If you liked the response of the AC30 go shorter and you'll be alot happier than on the 170.
