I know she wishes no harm on anyone. I never said she did. It's her straight and narrow train of thought that brings out certain things she says, but I guess you know that already.

BTW, for the amount of time you spend in Ktown, you def know this family. We all do. They are very well known and liked.

I meant no ill will to Ty, but blame is the last thing someone should be spewing in a tragic situation like this. That's all I'm saying.

Also, your Mets suck. Carry on............

Agreed on the Mets...

hmmmm - give me a hint on the family. Do we see them in Bay 1?

I assumed this was one of those, skiing down the escalator things at first.

Hope he's alright. Dumb mistake, but something we all might have done when we were younger.

Agreed.
Best of thoughts and prayers to this young skier and family.

This thread brought a pic to mind that I took at Copper.
I have to admit, I chuckled, and took pictures, but it could have been much different if something went wrong.

I've never seen 'em in bay 1, but have seen them all for years around K and Pico. If you saw them, you'd recognize them. One of those "I know them by face" folks.

Anyway, looks like the kid has a shot at a decent recovery. Fingers x-ed for the whole family. Looks a little better every day I guess.

Isn't he talking about Barb Marshall? I'd think you see her every day you set foot in the alpine training center. I think your son knows her since I believe she was the person who was supervising the kickers on the Highline bump course when he was free-skiing it last April during his school vacation. She always skis in that puffy navy blue down jacket and wears a thick gray sweatshirt on warm days when everybody else has dropped all their layers. I agree with what "Ski" wrote on the Killington board. Other than Jon Lamb, she's the one person at Killington you invariably see out there on the hill every day.

This whole thing absolutely sucks. It could have happened to any of us.

I guess I've seen her - I'm trying to place a "Barb" from the ski club. Tanks for the info.

AFA the person supervising the kickers, I thought that was Deb Newson

You know them for sure. If you saw them, Barb et al, you'd def recognize the entire family.

Ok so lets get this straight

The escalator is closed by being "chained off"

The kid ignored the chains and proceeds to hurt himself on said closed escalator

and he's not stupid????

yes we all have done stupid things in our youth heck youtube is full of people doing them but lets call a spade a spade, what he did was stupid.

that being said I do wish him a speedy and full recovery.

You are mixing up doing something stupid with being stupid. If he doesn't learn from the experience then we can call him stupid.

You've never done something where you could get hurt? Maybe you got lucky, but I think there's a lot of judging going on here. He's a kid, did something stupid, hopefully he'll learn from it.

If his brain still works..why can't we judge??

I have no problem with someone calling me stupid for doing something stupid. It happens all the time, sometimes resulting in injuries. Just 3 weeks ago I atempted to negotiate a trail I shouldm't have on my dirt bike. My leg still isn't healed and I can hardly walk. My wife calls my stupid daily and tells my I have no one to blame but myself. I can say that the ledge didn't have a chain across it.

I'm here to testify that my husband is brilliant, seriously a smart guy, but there are a few of his friends that he goes skiing and dirtbiking with that seems to inject the whole lot of them with an extra dose of stupid.

Its almost as if, a group of brilliant guys negates all of the combined brilliance and turns it into STOOPID!

^^^^ this is why I always bring a camera along! :)

A site has been launched to allow folks to assist Cody's family.
If you're in a position to help this family, or buy a tshirt, please do so.
If you can do nothing but send good wishes, then please do so.

I like this comment on the home page:
The most powerful law in the universe without exception is Manifestation, every human being has the ability to transform any weakness or suffering into strength, power, perfect peace, health, and abundance.

GSS, if you make a snide comment about this, I'll flame your butt until its a pile of ashes, so don't go there!!!
