Got on the hill right at 5:00 after sitting in the traffic jam from the day session. Place looked packed for the day session on the webcam and had a big crowd for the night as well. Hit Smith, 10th, and Conifer before grooming and all 3 very bumpy, slick, and full of people who were in way over their heads. About par for the course for a weekend powder day at Wachusett. After grooming I hit Smith a few times... even with 10" of fresh snow fallen overnight, it still had a bit of that first day styrafoam and also had tons of pebbles with a few slick spots on the steep.
Over on Minuteman I hit Hitchcock after grooming which was nice, as well as Frannies twice which was ungroomed and lots of fun. Wish they would've ran the triple as it would've been a nice escape from the 5-10 minute liftlines at the quads.
Only took 10 runs and hit the bar because I didn't feel like waiting in line to play Chinese downhill every run. I'll be back up for the day session tomorrow which should be much better, especially with more fresh coming. They were making snow on Ralph's and Challenger when I left at 7:30... looks like they've remained doing that for the past 25 hours (and probably Look Ma and Hitchcock too). Summit needs more snowmaking as there's no way to tell where the manmade ends on 10th and Smith and I skied right off the edge a few times into rocks and other stuff.
