Trip Report: The girlfriend wanted to go last night to try out her new K2 Miss Demeanors I got her for Christmas. We got to Wa around 4:30, and from the line in the bathroom I knew it was going to be a busy night. When we first got out to the summit quad, the lines weren't bad at all (pretty much non existent), we got a few runs in off the Summit, Smith was nice, a little scratchy on the steep part, but not too bad, 10th was being groomed so we hit conifer which was almost completely scratched off... On the way up the lift we noticed that they were almost done with 10th so we waited two minutes and then screamed down the corduroy. My first time ever hitting fresh cord. One more run on 10th, then the line was getting ridiculous on the summit quad so we went over to minuteman and played there for a bit. Hitchcock was a scratch fest, but challenger was really nice and Ralph's was closed for grooming. Hit the vickery lift, skied piece of cake which was in nice shape, and skied down the side of the park on Frannie's which was very scratchy.
After that was a little side trip over to the monadnock triple for an attempt at skiing fakie for the both of us, we played around on Indian Summer for one run skiing backwards on and off. The snow on the IS was very nice, good stuff for people to be learning on. After that we took one more run down upper smith (still very nice), then took the vickery lift up and came down the bottom half of Hitchcock (still a scratch fest) and then played on top of the soon to be half pipe...
Overall a fun night and the girlfriend liked her new skis. The lines were a bit crazy when we left (about 7:45), but that's to be expected on a holiday week.
