Resort or Ski Area:Wachusett

Conditions:Machine groomed 15 minutes after rain

Trip Report:

Temps were warm so the snow was soft and easy to carve. I didn't explore a lot but what I saw was significant snow loss between this week and last. Good skiing off the Minuteman Express Quad but the top of Look Ma is now dirt and the mountain road has melted to expose the asphalt. Good conditions off the Polar Express Quad but the moguls on Tenth Mtn. have been leveled which was rather disappointing. If you're a carver, without moguls Tenth in now wide and ready for edge to edge carving. They did seed some beginner bumps on lower Smith Walton so if you're looking to practice your form at much slower speeds, seek them out.

Man, I was thinking of heading there yesterday but the warm weather turned me off a bit, I decided to do some more stuff around the house. Can't believe it was 52 yesterday on Feb 1st.

The road is visible again!! In February!! If they don't get some serious snow soon and the temps drop... when would the season end? Early March?? Argh

I drove through rain on rt. 2 on the way there between 5:30-5:45pm. It had ended by the time I arrived at the mountain at 6pm. The lodge was packed! Rumor was that lightning was spotted and they had shut down all the lifts accordingly. Sure doesn't sound like February to me.

Yeah the kids in there are a total zoo on the midweek days, still lift lines seem very reasonable. I never had to wait long the last couple midweek days I have gone, at least not on the Polar Express.
