Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain, MA

Conditions: Wet early, FRGR and LSGR late

Trip Report:

Warm night at Wawa. It was extremely crowded from 4-6 with 20 minute lines at the quads. By 8, those lines were pretty much gone. The joy of a Wawa weeknight.

Conifer: Took first run down it around 5. It was pretty good, with an ice spot here and there. Redcoats swarming it like usual.

10th: Very crowded tonight. The bumps were the biggest I've ever seen them, but horrible shaped and VERY icy. Too many idiots on the groomed half to go around, so I only went down twice.

Smith: Took quite a few runs down it, all after grooming. 3 were around 5:00 and the trail was still flat as a pancake and very fast. On my last run at 9, upper was all bumped up and lower was still very fast.

Hitchcock: A few mounds to get air off of and a box to the side of the trail. The terrain park fence is up, but not much of a park.

Look Ma: Spent most of my night in the park. They added some stuff since last Friday, including a spine, a few more jumps, and a few more rails. they made the professional sized jump even bigger. some of the insane people were doing pretty big tricks off the thing. The pipe was closed for grooming.

I might be up there Friday night. I don't know what's going on next week, but I'll be up there next Friday night for the 24 hour skiathon.

Hey man, I was up there last night too. Sorry I missed you.

I spent all night on the summit. Mostly on Smith but a few runs down Conifer and I ventured into the moguls a few times.

They were pretty crappy, but doable, sort of.

They are so big because at some point they blew huge whales on them and never reseeded. You'll notice the big car sized humps line up with the tower guns. There was some bad boiler plate in there in spots and lines were tough to come by. I seriously had an easier time skiing double black bumps on Downdraft (or Double Dipper, can't remember) at Killington than I did in those at Wa. Oh well.

I really like Smith, I can believe natural bumps were starting to form. Too bad they were so irregular and way too much space between them. I saw a lot of people on that trail that should probably have been on Conifer.

Well, we'll see how they handle this rain...
