Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett, MA

Conditions: Spotts Powder early, PP late, snow lightening through the evening, 20s

Trip Report:

Very nice night at Wa tonight. Arrived at 6 PM to a surprisingly empty mountain... a lot of schools must've cancelled ski club this afternoon due to the snow. Pretty much yo-yo runs all night long. When it was snowing heavily, the snow was extremely sticky and slow due to the warmer air, but after 8 the snow slowed down and got cold which brought the speed back to around normal.

Conifer: Got some of the first tracks after grooming. It was so soft that when I tried to take a nice carve at the top, my right ski completely sank into the base and almost took me down. Basically butter the whole way after grooming.

10th: Also got some runs in after grooming which were real nice. The bumps were reseeded and therefore suck again. Not much else to say about this one as I didn't hit it much late.

Smith: Hit it a lot when I arrived around 6 and it was very sticky and slow. Hit it again around 9:15 and it was great. Better speed and some awesome snow on the steep. Bottom got better too. Polar was in normal speed and was ski-on.

Hitchcock/Frannies: Took a few runs through the mini park which hasn't changed. Also got some air off the very last pitch to the base all the way to skiers right... there's a nice lip before that steep to get good air.

Look Ma: Early on it was too slow to even hit the features, but got better as the night went on. There's a new booter at the bottom on the left side of the split and a few rails are missing from last week.

Ralph's: Uhh... normal Ralph's... not much to elaborate on here. Minuteman was in normal speed, was ski on, and the couch at the top is nowhere to be seen.

I'll be back Friday night and I'm thinking about hitting the mighty Sundown Sunday.

Thanks for the report Zand. I'll be there Friday, but I'll be over on the triple, administering lesson #2 to my girlfriend. I'll be there til close though if you want to make a couple runs at the end of the night...
