Date(s) Skied: Friday Night 2/6/09
Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett, MA
Conditions: PP, 10s
Trip Report:
Good night at Wawa. Crowds surprisingly light for a Friday night. Skied 6-10, with up to 9 mainly on summit and then the last hour in the park.
Conifer: Took some runs down it right around 9 when the crowds were gone. Hit some of the kickers on the side of the trail for some added fun. Conditions were awesome top to bottom... nice packed powder everywhere for any kind of turns you want.
10th: Least-favorite of the 3 summit trails tonight. Just seemed to be more scraped than the other 2. Bumps were decent. Lines are starting to form but still suck. Bumps are still a bit soft but they'll freeze solid Monday and re-seed Tuesday so get them now before they go back to "fully suck" mode.
Smith: Great top to bottom with packed powder all over and lots of loose stuff on the steep. Polar was in normal speed and never had more than a 3 minute wait.
Hitchcock/Frannies: Frannie's was a scraped mess. Features unchanged since Tuesday. Hitchcock was decent as usual. Vickery lift ran for a couple hours.
Look Ma: Spine and quarter pipe are gone, but there is a new small jump at the very top. The spine got flattened and turned into a manual pad containing weird gaps. Park was slick and there were a high number of injuries tonight. Minuteman was in normal speed and lines no longer than 5 minutes, usually shorter.
Still thinking Sundown Sunday night. Keeping an eye on the trip and events thread to see who's gonna be there to make my final decision. If not, I'll have a Wa report midweek.
