Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett

Conditions: SWEET! Packed powder, snowing!!

Trip Report: Okay, I wasn't anticipating getting out on the hill last night especially after being up since 4:30am. But as a good trooper, I cast caution to the wind, and decided after picking up my son and getting home at 6:30pm to dump him off on the wife and head out to the hill by leaving at 6:45. It was snowing like crazy driving down route 2, and half the fun getting there. I get to Wa a little before 7:30 just enough to take 4 runs down some sweet sweet packed powder and other little powder stashes. I didn't care they were grooming out 10th nor the place was pretty packed. It was just plain awesome. So after 4 runs (two on smith and two on 10th) I called it a night as my wife was stuck with the toddler. I ended up heading home around 8:30 after gettingin a freshed groomed run, and some delicious chowdery runs. Not stopping for beer, dinner, or even an waffle ... just craving that sweet sweet snow!

Ha, were you part of that Chinese downhill coming down 10th after they dropped the rope? I saw that riding up the lift. Skiing was really nice everywhere. Big fluffy pillows going down the Smith Headwall and all the bump runs were sweet. Slow going on the flats you had to keep your speed up! Racing kinda sucked, just too soft and slow to really be fun. It was actually better later when the course got rutted out.

Wa, I was part of the first wave going down the hill after they dropped the ropes on 10th. It was silky smooth. I actually was surprised I topped out at 40mph coming down according to my iphone app thingy, didn't think I could get up to that speed coming down 10th. Smith was awesome too, not one scratchy part on the mountain all night. I wish I stayed longer, but again didn't expect to even get out when I did.
