Well you won't be seeing any powder shots from Wachusett today, but they're doing pretty good under the circumstances. They took one on the chin with the rain, probably lost almost half their base, but they still have good coverage. But the shields are down now and another hit like that will do some serious damage.

So I headed over there to burn off some calories after work today. Crowd was light, and the snow was pretty fast icy loose granular over hard pack. I was there just as they did a fresh groom on Tenth and Conifer, and the first runs on the cord was fast and fun. Even with the small crowd it got chewed up pretty quick. When they opened tenth there was a mad rush of about thirty people, with one kid having a hard crash in the frenzy and needing a sled ride. Saw another one carted off from Smith. One of them messed up their shoulder and the other one I couldn't tell, but maybe a neck injury as I saw a neck brace go on. Not a good night to be face planting since there was no give to the surface.

Some areas kind of crudded up with piles of loose granular, but other areas just had a thin coat of loose, and on that you could really fly. Edge locked carves did not really seem possible on the hard surface, at least not for me, but I was having fun doing some brushed carves on the fast parts. Probably getting time to sharpen up my edges. The bumps on tenth have been mowed flat, but there are still some on Hitchcock, although they didn't look that great tonight.

Will have to cross my fingers that Wawa gets through the next storm okay and maybe hit it up again next week. Now I feel like heading north to see if the stories of fresh snow up there are true. ;)
