Area skied: Wachusett Mountain, Massachusetts
Date skied: December 8th from 6:00pm - 8:15pm
Surface conditions: Packed powder, machine groomed
Weather: Clear and 12F base, 8F summit
We got a late start to the evening of skiing due to a major accident at my exit on I-84 which entailed driving back through town to some backroads to be further east on I-84.
We arrived at Wachusett and took a warm up run on Ralph's Run which had snowmaking the top and bottom of the trail, but not the middle. The snow is quite dense out of the guns making for a sticky snow to ski on.
Challenger had the same kind of snow and the same location of ongoing snowmaking.
Hancock is being buried in a snowmaking assult as well as Look Mom and some of the whales are now 4-6' tall.
Connfier Connection was the ROTD with freshly groomed snow and only a bit of hardpacked snow if you dug deep enough.
10th Mountain had lots of deep loose granular snow until Salamander Cutoff when the snow was more of a winterlike packed powder.
Not very many people at all tonight on the mountain with ski on access to all lifts.
