Date Skied: 12-11-10 (great night under the lights)

Resort or Ski Area: Wachusett Mountain (Princeton, MA)

Conditions: Machine Groomed...All man made

Trip Report: Great night to get my first turns of the season and break out the new Rossi twins...Went up with the family and spent the day training the gf trying to get her turns up to par. The morning was spent on the beginner slopes on the far left (Sundowner and Indian Summer). Bunny slope doesnt see much abuse and was pretty well groomed. After two runs there it was off to Ralph's Run which despite the irritating little punks on the snowboards who try and use you as if you were a slalom pole cutting in front of you, the snow was very good. Can't tell the difference in the fake snow. Terrific coverage which suprised me. As my girl made slow turns I made fun of learning to ski backwards on my new twins whenever the crowd thinned out. (Could use any tips and pointers from fellow forum readers...do you lean forward still?) After Ralph's we made our way to Conifer, which as usually was pretty chopped up. I dont mind it at all but for those like my girl looking for some well groomed trails I don't recommend hitting Conifer unless its freshly groomed as Conifer see the most traffic of the mountain as all here know. After seeing Conifer as a bit challenging we made our way back to Ralph's. Looking for a bit of a challenge we attempted Challenger. I can say conditions here were the best I saw all night. After my girls legs finally gave out and she hit the lodge I was able to meet my brother for one last run. We hit tenth mountain for a full speed last onslaught of the night. Top of the trail the snow was still really good adn smooth. The steep pitch (where Wawa usually sets up there moguls was real chopped up as usual. I dont mind it cause it makes drawing a line more fun. Especially when hitting it full speed on legs that hadnt been challenged all night. I have to say I loved my new Rossignol Scratch's with my Rossignol 140 xl bindings. At high speeds i had no chatter which was very satisfying upgrade from my old Blizzards. Despite the fact that my brother was not satisfyed trailing my new rooster trails. According to a fellow chair lift member Hitchcock was a sheet of ice at the end in that he could see his reflection.

I am sad to report that it seems Wawa is closed today (12-12) due to rain with the potential announcement of them opening either Monday or Tuesday.
