Area skied: Wachusett Mountain, Massacusetts

Date skied: February 3rd from 3:45pm - 6:00pm

Surface conditions: Machine groomed, hardpacked, powder as the evening progressed.

My son had a half day today so I picked him up from school and we started the snowy drive to Wachusett. Arriving at Wachusett we found that we had outrun the majority of the storm and the mountain had maybe 1" of snow with only flurries falling.

Our first run was down Roper's Road/Connifer Connection/Balance Rock which was carvable but annoyingly scratchy.

The second and third runs where down Balance Rock/Connifer Connection/Lower Balance Rock with edgable hardpacked snow.

By our fourth run it had started to snow and it became heavy shortly therafter. We skied down 10th Mountain which was icy at the top but had some nice powder edges on Lower 10th Mountain.

We took two snowy runs off the Minuteman Express including Ralphs Run and a freshly groomed Hitchcook Trail which had about 1-2" of powder over the groomed making for silky smooth turns.

We also got first tracks down a groomed and powdery 10th mountain before calling it a night after one more run down Connifer Connection, by which time I resembled a human snowman from the heavily falling snow.
