Snowmaking has resumed on all 4 trails... they're finally blowing the mouth of Conifer and around the Polar Express so there's a good sign. Barring any signifigant melting this week (pray we get just a little rain Wednesday night and not a big storm) they should be pretty good when they restart snowmaking Thursday or Friday night. Next weekend seems possible.

The website has a link today to the "Winter Events Sneak Preview", which is showing 11/23 as opening day.

Hmm... that's the day after Thanksgiving, which is their traditional opening day. What the woman at WaWa told me the other day was that they are shooting for "the weekend before Thanksgiving", which would have been the 16th.

So, either they're hedging their bets and making sure they don't disappoint anyone by missing an announced opening date and therefore want to surprise with an early open, or maybe they really will hold off until the 23rd and just try to blow the socks off of early season skiers by having more terrain open than normal?

I'm hoping for the early open, myself, but we'll see what happens.

They aren't afraid to open Conifer early if it has snow, that's for sure. The bad thing is that the weather looks marginal this week so next weekend isn't too likely, but don't be surprised.

If the long range is correct, 11/23 almost looks like a definite.

Went up to Wa to day to take the kids for a little hike and see whats up with the snowmaking. We parked and walked up the auto road a bit. Saw some guys walking back with skis. They said the cover was a little thin . . . We didn't go to the summit but here are some pics from the auto road:

Lower Conifer, looks like they're just building up some whales which will hopefully hold up through the warm-up next week:

Looking up:

10th, no snowmaking below the road:

Upper 10th doesn't look much better and certainly won't hold up to any rain:

And finally me and my daughter "riding" a whale:

We didn't really stop at the lodge, but it looked like they've been working on some spots around the base and some kids have set a few miniparks.

I was actually going to go up today for a few turns, but fell asleep instead. Luckily it doesn't look like a missed much. Though grass skiing is always a good time...

Upper 10th and Upper Conifer are getting bombed again tonight. Nothing at the bottom or on Indian Summer (didn't look at Ollie's so can't say for that one). Upper Conifer should have some huge whales on it by the end of the night... hopefully most of them survive the warm week so they can flatten them and open next weekend.
