Let me know when you'll be in the neighborhood.

I'm dangerously overstocked with Wobbly Pops and could use some help draining them.

Maybe a AlpineZone Summer meet-up is in-order?

Anyone go up to the Lavor Day sale?

I didn't, but I'll be there for the Columbus Day sale... I need new boots.

I'll be there Columbus Day. Didn't go on Labor Day, went last year and didn't find anything much. It's just their ski shop and the selection isn't great and the deals weren't stellar. The ski swap is the only thing I'll take the time to check out.

I have quite a bit less after the weekend but know a place I can score some more.

I did run into TrailBoss at Wachusett on Saturday. And Mrs. Trailboss.

What a woman is doing with that guy is entirely beyond me.

Yeah, especially her. I can't figure it out either. He must have a super rich relative with a real bad cough or something.

Going for that pre-nup TB?

I went to Wa for the LD Sale. Got my daughter new boots Friday. Wnet back Monday to scoop a jacket she wanted (Christmas Present).

It was great to see the Wa staff. My daughter lucked-out. The place was packed and she scored the shop manager to fit her for boots. Mike Vlass is a great guy. Took excellent care of Mrs Sky last season getting her all re-geared.

The #2 person in the shop is Sandy. She was helping a 6 yr old kid and family get fitted. She was doing a great job having fun with the family and the kid. Looked like a real event for them.

I know I sound like a "homer", but I'm just impressed with they way they conduct business. I always feel good walking out of that shop.

Marc is correct regarding the gear on sale....not a huge selection, ALTHOUGH it appeared that maybe Wa made room for other vendors to sell left over stuff.

Lots of clothinh. OVO helmets. LOTS of boots going out the door. Lots of kids getting complete packages.

The place seemed packed when I was there.

I think the Colubus Day Swap brings in all the used gear...hand-me-down kids stuff (some preyty good), and other vendors looking to sell excess stock.

ALSO...it appears Wa has paved almost the entire upper parking lot. Didn't notice it Friday because I went in the "exit" at the top of the hill. But I happened to look around on my return trip (at the mass of parked cars) and noticed the pavement extends down to row 15 or so...maybe furhter. Must have been a profitable season last year. *smirk*

That's cool, the gravel was really rough. Some of the sink holes that opened up in the winter could make my car scrape bottom. Should be a whole lot easier to plow too.

Yeah, that lot was pretty bad in the winter. It'll help a lot. Tons of holes and stuff for water to freeze in and then make all kinds of mud when it got warm. Maybe they'll build a snow-covered bridge across it so I can ski from Ralph's Run to the car. Or not.

It's almost time! Should be another good year. Last year was real good considering the weather.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, guys

Yes, we were at the ski sale on Saturday. I was not impressed by the prices at all. Quite high. But then again, this is the time that demand increases, so the prices go up. I will say that they were disclosing which skis included mounting in the prices and which did not.

As for W, we did hear back from Jeff and got some more info, but Ms. TB and TB's mother in law did not like the place. So it is not likely we will be there.

Personally, I am not a fan. I find it to be way to crowded and too many first timers trying parts of the mountain they shouldnt be on. Yes, that happens at every mountain, but its more noticeable here because it is so close to Boston and because its a smaller mountain.

If you have that urge, like everyone says, go mid week and try to get their after a dump.

Wachusett is a mountain that you have to ski at the right times.

Anytime during the week is great between first chair and 3:00 PM, with the exeption of holiday weeks. After 8:00 PM is also great because the crowds really thin out. Best day to ski Wachusett is Superbowl Sunday when the Patriots are playing.

When not to go?

Between 3:00 PM and 7:30 PM in January and February (school groups)
Pretty much any weekend.
School holidays.
