Walkie talkie for the mountains

Any recommendation for a good and cheap pair of walkie talkies for family to stay in touch on a busy mountain? Thanks.

i have motorola (dont know model, about 4 yrs old) works great...get the rechargable battery kind, mine uses 4 AA's and it rips thru batteries esp in the cold

Not all Motoralas are created equal. We love the old Talkabout TA280SLK. The Talkabout T5270 models we have are only used for backup when we have a bigger group. They just don't have the range, clarity, or battery life of the 280 model. Neither is manufactured anymore from what I can tell.
