I ordered the DVD on Oct. 30. It arrived the next day. The crummy part is that I found it on the counter this AM. If I knew it arrived yesterday I would have watched it instead of Syriana (zzzzzzzzzzz) last night. Gotta love the Meatheads and their wrapping material. I ordered one of the pint glasses and they used old newspapers for packing material.

WTF, where is mine? My wife ordered a copy on the 30th also...

Hmmm. Maybe Sev hid it so she can watch it on her own and claim first tracks?
LOL! You know, Brian was telling me last week that if someone needed an idea for a Christmas present, he would like this. I could have been REALLY cruel and made him wait until Christmas... But I was feeling generous the other day and sent him the receipt as soon as I got the email. It was the least I could do. After that, I wouldn't hold out on him. Promise!

It came in today's mail. So Brian, you can watch it tonight with the kids while I'm at work. Have fun! :spread:

Unfortunately I didn't have a chance to give the movie my undivided attention since I was daddy day care last night. I did have it on while I was feeding the kids. It seemed to be well produced from what I saw, but the park to skiing ratio seemed to be too skewed towards park stuff as seems to be the growing trend. I saw parts of the Radio Ron segment, he sure looks different when he's not geared up in his one piece!

I hope to get a chance to watch it all the way through this weekend so I can give a better review...

Is it worth buying this year, if you are not into an hour of park footage?

I think it's worth buying, I just got back from a trip last night and the DVD was here. I watched it last night and this morning and it is very good. I would say maybe 35% park footage.

Tug Hill Platue - Great - Lots of cool drops and deep powder

Park and Urban - Good - Lots of techy rails and interesting jump tricks

Stowe - Good - Good snow, cool lines.

Heat Harvest (super park) - Bad - nothing here I havn't seen before..same jump over and over again.

Bushwackin ( MRG + Cannon) - Good - Cool Terrain and nice telemarking. It's Cannon's first time in the movie adding something new.

New Foundland - Fair - Skiing wasn't amazing and niether were conditions. Lot's of repetitive features and a lot of useless video of them doing nothing but walking around.

Radio Ron - Fair - The music for bump skiing wasnt great and it just seemed repetitive. Cool Guy though.

Backcountry Jumps - Fair - Again very repetitive and nothing to crazy or inovative.

Exploring the City - OK - Some new things but the same features over and over again.

Jay Peak - Great - Deep snow, great lines, cool terrain.

Overall Notes:
- Bad music IMO
- Lot's of park...some good some bad
- Need new terrain to film. find some new areas
- Stowe and Jay segments continue to be the best segments in the movie
- Tug Hill was new and fun to watch.
- No Valentines Day segment?
- Need more skiing, less random shots.

* Worth the buy but don't expect it to be better than Snow Gods or Born from Ice.

I dunno if you were out during the V-Day storm but it would have been damn near impossible to film in those conditions. The absence of a valentines day segment is not surprising to me. How are the extras?

Ouch. In other words, last year was not an annomoaly and they are not getting better with each new release. I am hoping I can catch the flick without having to buy the DVD at this point. I don't think I will ever get my monies worth out of Snow Gods which was a step down from Born From Ice. Is there a decent size market that actually enjoys 50% park and jib? I can understand 25%, but for an outfit trying to do the East right, I think they over do the park.

While I agree that there's too much park stuff I think that they're probably appealing to a large audience. Most of the young skiers around here are into the parks and stuff.

I will compare the first copy of Wanderland I received to the one I received yesterday and see which one is better. That's right, 2 DVDs in 2 different shipments (one arrived UPS the other USPS). Looks there shipping department is too kind. I'm going to call to make sure I wasn't charge twice. If they send me postage I will be sending back the extra shipment.

Day after the Valentine's day storm was bluebird, though . . .

I didn't notice any footage from that day, but I only watched it once.

Picked up a copy at the waste of time Boston Ski Show today. I have to say, that I am a pretty critcal person and this was not as park/jibbish as I thought it would be. Of course I am not into all the park activites but there was a decent mix between the two. Of course born from Ice takes the cake. Few things I would like to point out, the Stowe scenes were great as usual, WOw- the gal at Jay 4 months prego and ripping it. Personally I thought last year was pretty damn good up in VT where these guys are from, Sure Early season sukd but March and April was great. They could have had more from the other areas, I was happy to see Smuggs get an appearance this year.

I was impressed by that, too! There was no way I was going to get on skis while I was preggo, but to see her skiing like nothing was different was pretty cool.

I actually didn't mind the music. But then again, I'm not into that hip hop/rap stuff that's often found in ski porn.

I finally got a copy this weekend too and thought it was pretty good overall. Not too much park/urban stuff. But the music was friggin dull! I want to feel pumped up watching a ski movie not falling asleep on the couch. I think the meatheads have been smoking a little too much of their profits and have mellowed out too much.

Radio Ron is insane! The extras on him are great. I had no idea that guy was as fit as he is.

Yeah, The extras on Radio Ron are great! I'm oddly fascinated by him and his pills, and his deer, and his car, and his love for the Counting Crows, and his tendency to drink honey straight from the jar.

I watched the movie a few more times . . . Not as good as Born From Ice, definitely . . .

I think they should branch out even more with the mountain selections. They should get to Whiteface, Sugarloaf, Tuckerman Ravine (I think they went there once late season in BFI, but I want to see them set up a monster kicker on a full on Spring Day with a huge crowd . . . THAT would be a sweet shoot), and maybe Tremblant would be cool (sick park up there).

Also, they should spend a little time at second tier mountains (Gore, Bolton (already done?), Saddleback, Magic). Sick stuff at those areas, they just need to find a local to hook up with and they could shoot some quality footage in some sick terrain.
