What is the best way to find out what level of slope I am skiing on? Is there a website I can go to? I've heard it said that extreme skiing is on slopes of 45 degrees or more and that most ski resorts have slopes up to 35 degrees. Is this true and how can I find out what degree the trails I am skiing are? Thanks for any help.

This site should help.

They don't have all the mountains, especially in the east, but I hope the site takes off so they add more.

Buy an inclinator..slope meter so you know..most imbounds east coast terrain is under 30 degrees and most inbounds Rockies skiing is under 40 degrees

Yikes, that's an instant headache. Don't you know of any sites with some good old number averaging.

Difficulty depends on a variety of factors including slope/pitch. Whether a trail is groomed, or how wide it is can have as much of an effect on difficulty. A trail that is only moderately pitched but has bumps may humble a skier that can rip on a groomed steep...

no... but you're more than welcome to post one when you come across it. :smash:

Thanks for the permission slip, and sorry you took it so personally as there was no offense intended ( I won't bother adding a smash symbol ).

LMAO...you don't know me very well. I didn't take it personally. I'm just a quick witted wiseass. Back on topic I would prefer that site over one with number averaging because you can see where on the trail the steepness lies.

Truly sorry to get back off subject, but, as I'm a texting village idiot ( never do it/couldn't care less ), and have seen this LMAO repeatedly, I'd like to request a definition ( because if it's Lick My A..L Orafice, I'm not going to be very happy with the more than a few times it's been used in a response to one of my posts ). Also, while we're at it LOL would be helpful as well. I've got MHO/IMHO so don't bother with those. Feel free to chime in with any other regulars I'm likely to run into.

Back on subject, I'd appreciate that site more if they'd open up the scale, and superimpose the color grid to the areas trail map. Then I'd really be all about it.

Lol= Laughing out loud. LMAO=Laughing my ass off. It's like a super LOL. ROTFLMAO=Rolling on the floor LMAO. Super duper LOL. ROTFLMAOPIMP=Rolling on the.....Peeing in my pants. The super duper duper LOL.

Here's a comprehensive list that might help.

On topic: I'm not sure I understand what you mean by opening up the scale, but your right. There is plenty of room for improvement with those maps.

Many thanks for that!

As far as the scale thing, I went to the Snowbird map on my first view ( because it's what I knew the best out of what they offered ), and it was difficult to figure out what I was seeing. If they increased the actual page size image/made the viewable terrain larger it would have been easier to appreciate what they've created.
