Boots?

The worst thing is to leave the boots in the car for the night or in a cold location. I learned the difference that this makes a few years ago and now keep them in my hotel room at night. I have very poor circulation and have cold feet even in the summer time. I got hotronics installed in 2003 after skiing in -25F at Sugarloaf and now I keep my boots on in the car sometimes when my wife drives home because they feel so comfortable.

I do suffer from a big toe contusion on my right foot and I lose my toenail every winter, this is more due to the fact that I lean back while skiing and put pressure on the nail. I just endure the pain until the toenail is dead and then enjoy the rest of the season. Last year three days of back to back skiing on Thanksgiving weekend killed it right away.

OUCH!

Noodles

My friends and I have stayed at the Mountain Sports Inn a number of times. It is a very pleasant but basic accomodation. The hot tub is not that attractive (kind of buried in the basement) but generally, the place is clean and comfortable. They do serve a nice breakfast. Eggs, (no fried tomatoes, beans or bangers) bacon, pancakes, potatoes, coffee, tea, juice, cooked to order. It is located near the bottom of the access road, but getting up to the K1 gondola is no problem. There are also decent places to eat within walking distance. We use it because their prices are very reasonable.

I dread getting new boots, which I'm doing this year. It means a lot of money and pain (and even more of the former this year, as I think it's time for new footbeds as well). My old boots are soft and falling apart, but I'll be using them for at least a week or two more (probably a bit longer), until my Garmonts show up and I can get them fitted (which is going to be a PITA, as my left foot fit reasonably well into the 26.5, and my right foot was quite adament that I needed a 27.0; since it's easier to make a boot bigger than to make it smaller, I ordered a pair of 26.5s).

(And if your boots are comfy when you first put them on in the shop, then either the boots are way too big or you happen to have the pair of feet the boot designers were using when they built 'em.)

It's why I only buy Nordica boots. Fit great right out of the box. Tried Atomics once, feet where bleeding within an hour.

I put by new Nordica Beasts on last night and they are really snug. I can't wait till those liners pack out a bit. But the slight discomfort I feel over the next two weeks will be worth it when I strap them on for real at K-Mart on November 10.
